New contract between Mercyhealth and Aetna will expand Wisconsin coverage
JANESVILLE-- Effective Jan. 1, Aetna will expand its network to include Mercyhealth's hospitals and physicians in Wisconsin, according to a news release from Aetna.
Aetna announced Tuesday it signed a contract with Mercyhealth to provide Aetna customers inpatient and outpatient health care services at in-network rates from Mercyhealth's hospitals in Wisconsin, according to a news release.
The expanded coverage will include a network of more than 300 physicians in Rock and Walworth counties, according to the release.
In response to questions from The Gazette, Javon Bea, president and CEO of Mercyhealth, said in an email from a spokesperson:
"I am excited to announce that Mercyhealth is now an in-network health care services provider for Aetna Wisconsin commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. Mercyhealth is proud to offer its comprehensive and exceptional health care services and providers to Aetna Wisconsin members. Mercyhealth is an in-network provider for most national and regional health plans, and it continues to work with these companies to provide groups and individuals access to quality health care."
Representatives from Mercyhealth did not respond to additional questions from The Gazette before press time.
Aetna offers commercial insurance and Medicare Advantage products in select Wisconsin markets, according to the release.
“We are thrilled about the expansion of our partnership with Mercyhealth, which enables us to serve more Medicare Advantage and commercial members in Wisconsin,” said Kristin Myers, president of Aetna's Great Lakes market, in a news release.
