Ariyana Stalsberg won uneven bars and floor exercise for Janesville Craig’s gymnastics team Thursday night, but the Cougars came up short in a Big Eight Conference dual meet opener.

Madison West edged Craig 122.5-117.5.

Craig’s Phoebe Werner won the all-around and tied for the top spot on vault.

“Our girls had a pretty good meet tonight,” Craig coach Jean Welch said. “We were a bit short-handed due to illness, so our team score was slightly lower, but overall we performed well.

“Ariyana had a beautiful floor routine, and most of our girls improved their scores.”
