Welcome to the new GazetteXtra. We hope you find it interesting and engaging, but a few things have changed, so we want to give you a rundown:

First-time visitors: Online subscribers will be required to update their passwords for the new site. For instructions, click here.

Signing in: After subscribers sign in, they have full access to GazetteXtra, to the eEdition and to subscriber services. There is no need to sign in separately to access the different features. Your sign-in will last for 30 days.

Top stories: The top stories section of the GazetteXtra homepage highlights five stories and related images. To read stories in the top stories section, clicking on the image or click on the main headline below the image. Clicking on the headline to the right of the rotating images won't open the article.

Accessing content: All content on GazetteXtra now falls under a pay meter, which allows users to view three stories per month without having to sign in or purchase a subscription. In addition to print and digital subscriptions, we also offer day passes, giving users 24 hours of full access to the site for $1.

Comments: To comment on GazetteXtra articles, users will need to have a Facebook account. If you don't have a Facebook account and wish to comment on stories, go to Facebook.com to create a free account.

Navigation: We have changed our main navigation bar at the top of the site. It has no drop-down menus but remains visible at the top the screen as you scroll. To view all sections on GazetteXtra, click the “MENU” icon at the left end of the navigation bar.

eEdition: Online subscribers have access to the eEdition, which is a digital reproduction of our daily print edition. Access to the eEdition is included with the purchase of a day pass.

Events calendar: The events calendar is a new feature on GazetteXtra. Users are invited to submit events for publication in print and online.

Announcements: Users are invited to submit engagement, wedding, anniversary, birth and all occasion announcements through an online form.
